DBiz.ai

impactful experience @ scale

Three years, three roles, and a design practice built inside a consultancy: the brand guidelines, the kit that makes them usable, two websites and the team that keeps it all moving.

Three roles

in three years

I joined DBiz in internal communications, moved into marketing for client-facing work, and now lead digital design for the company.

This page is about the work that came with each step: the brand, the website, and the practice around them.

Rewriting the rulebook

the brand guidelines

The earlier guidelines were thin, and every team was making its own slides, posts and banners. I led the refresh with the team.

It covers the logo and tagline, Midnight Blue and Royal Orange with their shades, accent families and named gradients, DM Sans and Montserrat, voice by channel, photography and an AI image prompt guide, specifications for each social platform, video and motion, and how the brand shows up on everything from an email signature to a cap.

The Dynamic Block

four shapes from one letter

The idea that holds the system together is a set of shapes lifted from the logo. The lowercase d gives the Dynamic Block, a rectangle with one corner cut at 45 degrees. A square, a circle and a semi circle complete the set.

They became the brand’s own building blocks for image masks, patterns and layouts. Make a pattern of your own below.

Four shapes make every pattern, image mask and layout in the system. Pick one to find it in the grid.

A kit, not a PDF

guidelines people can use

A PDF nobody opens changes nothing, so the refresh shipped as a kit: logo files in every size, named gradients, fonts, a PowerPoint master, Word and letterhead templates, an email signature, business cards, Teams backgrounds, and profile pictures and banners for each platform.

The same system then went onto things people wear and carry.

The launch

telling the whole company

The guidelines went out to the company with an internal emailer, “Our Brand Just Got an Upgrade!”, and a single button to download them.

The website

every page, three sizes

I have worked on dbiz.ai across its older and current versions. The Figma file runs to about 160 pages, each designed for desktop, tablet and mobile on a shared type scale and set of design standards.

A new “blueprint” style is rolling out page by page. The Homepage, Research & Innovation and the Partner pages are live in it.

DBiz Ventures

the marketing arm

A separate site I designed for the company’s marketing arm. It looks nothing like the parent brand: black, with a vivid gradient hero and glowing 3D illustrations.

Side builds

carousels and decks

Alongside the big pieces: LinkedIn carousels, marketplace slides for six service offers, and a monthly CSP announcements site that I built in Framer.

Running the practice

and what changed

Leading the team means weekly design jams so people keep learning from each other, catch-ups every other day, and work tracked in Azure Boards and Jira.

The work is easier to see from the outside than it used to be.

LinkedIn followers of DBiz.ai: from about 6,000 to 108,000 over this period, helped by a steady run of blogs and social content from the team.
